Choice Australia places significant emphasis on encouraging participation in, sports, recreation, adventure and cultural activities, as a catalyst for personal development, confidence and vibrancy.
Below is a list of groups and individuals Choice Australia currently provides assistance and support to. This helps groups and individuals achieve sport or recreational goals and promote sports and recreational activities.
Choice Australia also encourages and supports children, young and older people to consider and pursue healthy eating plans and exercise in general.
During the week starting Sunday 22 May 2005 for 7 days, Darwin hosted the Arafura Games. Over 30 countries from Australasia and South East Asia competed in 34 sporting events.
Our own Cairns manager Adam Piszczuk was picked to represent Cairns in a basketball team. Although his team didn’t win the final, Adam believes the team won by being there.
Choice supported Adam and his team mates by providing them with a team uniform. The following pictures are of the opening ceremony in front of 10,000 spectators and the men’s basketball team.


On the weekend of May 20th, 21st and 22nd the World’s Longest Wheelbarrow Race took place on the Atherton Tablelands, 100 km west of Cairns. The race involved teams pushing an industrial size wheelbarrow 42 kilograms in weight over 130 kilometers in 3 days.
Team Choices which won the race last year by over 3 hours, was again superbly led by team captain Dave ‘Leprechaun’ Lepp and crossed the line first some 2 hours and 20 minutes ahead of the next team.
Team Choices has now competed and won the race for the first 2 years. The team captain said the Team Choices crew enjoyed the event and went as far as dressing as the Village People when passing through a town on the Atherton Tablelands.
Dave ‘Leprechaun’ Lepp also stated the Team Choices crew would be donating a percentage of the winning purse to fund a series of breakfasts through our Choice Breakfast Program. Now that’s Choice.
On July 4th 2004 , Chief Executive Officer T.A.Hartley & Choice Australia stakeholder Dave Raymond represented Team Choice Finish at the Gold Coast Marathon. The event attracted roughly 13,000 competitors for a variety of distances including the marathon, half marathon, 10k and 7.5k walk along with the wheelchair events. Team Choice as it is usually referred to when we enter a team to compete in some form of sporting, recreational or adventure based activity, however, it was a case of finishing at the Gold Coast Marathon as such the new name Team Choice Finish has been established.
The 2003 Cairns International Half Ironman Triathlon attracted a field of over 260 competitors, 2 of them flew the flag for Choice.

We have supported nationally recognized female tri-athlete Caroline Cooklsey. Caroline joins a growing number of individuals and groups that we provide various levels of support and assistance to. Caroline has extensive triathlon experience nationally and internationally and is a living statement of what perseverance, endeavour and belief can achieve. We welcome Caroline on board and look forward to assisting her through this phase of her life.
We have supported Dave Raymond's kids karate school in Gordonvale. Dave unselfishly donates a lot of his time to provide opportunities for children to learn about self defense from his dojo. Gordonvale is not overburdened with activities for children and young people as such we will be identifying ways in which we can support Dave's endeavours.
We provide support and assistance to Neville Appleby and Anita Gori who volunteer their time to help children, young and older people get enjoyment from social running, to prepare junior runners for school competitions and participate in community athletics and running events.

We provide support and assistance to the Cairns Road Runners (a recreational distance running organisation), along with encouraging more children, young and older people to become involved in social running, event coordinating and spectator involvement
Choice Australia and long time sponsor Qantas provided support and assistance to junior triathlete Pieter Brauns. Pieter is part of the Neville Appleby & Anita Gori’s training program, whilst his tuition, enthusiasm and work ethic have enabled Pieter to become a rising star in junior and open age athletics and triathlons.
Choice Australia supported the Taranganba State Primary School signing choir late in 2003 by providing the 55 students with a Signing Choir uniform, pictured are some of the students and there teacher at the Yeppoon Beachfront on Harmony Day.
