The Choice character was created in 1997 with emphasis on supporting the aims and objectives of a program model to reshape the lives of disadvantaged Australians and people experiencing hardship. Choice was developed by the organisation as an identifiable character that represents the ideas we strive to teach others about positive choice-making. Covering areas such as health, education, safety, and the environment, Choice is often seen on our campaign materials promoting the importance of choice-making.
The Choice character was developed to be identifiable by people as a peer, not as a figure of authority. Choice is presented as a cool, fun, and positive character that is appealing and can be remembered. Choice represents people regardless of race, colour, creed, or religion, whilst maintaining a non-judgmental and non-directive attitude.

Since 1997, the Choice character has been linked to community based non-profit organisations, Choice Awareness Program, Choice Community Education, Choice Education Services and since November 2002 (Choice Australia Management Ltd). Over time the partnerships have developed a positive sub culture around the concept of healthy choice making, positive thinking and responsible behaviour. This is evidenced by the delivery of no fewer than 170 funded programs, projects, activities, school presentations and high exposure public education campaigns.
